Deputy President William Ruto has reminded Raila Amollo Odinga that it was very hard for someone who was born by a Vice President to understand poverty.
Hitting back in style at Mr. Odinga who had questioned why someone would take time to buy Kenya’s youths boda bodas, Ruto explained that he was not suprised to hear his political rival Odinga attack him over such donations.
The opposition leader who lambasted Ruto while in Taita Taveta recently questioned DPs huge weekly donations singling out why he was donating wheelbarrows and tanks to the poor instead of first explaining to Kenyans where he had found such overnight wealth which no any other Kenyan has ever amassed in a short period of time.
According to Odinga, Ruto’s monthly salary was not more than 1.5 million and could hardly sustain such expensive campaigns and lifestyle.
“He has called the youth to give them wheelbarrows, others are given motorbikes and water tanks, why is that money not in the government treasury, and you have donated that money?”
“One person donates Ksh100 million in a month and your salary is not even Ksh2 million, where is that money from? That is a big corruption scandal,” stated Raila.
ODM boss revisited church support programs from Mr. Ruto saying the second in command was hiding in the name of the Lord to propagate lies and corruption in the country.
However, in his sharp rejoinder, the DP said it was also important to consider the less fortunate and the vulnerable in the society.
“Let us be mindful about the sorry situation of millions of Kenyans struggling to meet their daily needs and above all put food on the table.”
“Let us acknowledge that every Hustle matters,” noted Ruto.
Ruto then went ahead to ask Mr, Odinga to instead start supporting such programmes so that poor Kenyans can realise the benefit of leadership.
