Wednesday, November 2, 2022 –US-born Elon Musk has officially announced a $8 or sh 971.6 per month for verified or to verify users.
In his Wednesday early morning message to all users, the new Twitter owner argued that this amount is part of the new revenue streams for his company which can nolonger depend on advertisement alone.
He also added that, to do away with bots and fakes, it was important to introduce these charges to enhance vigilance and authenticity on the platform.
The world’s richest businessman made this communication just days after taking over the social media platform as a sole owner. Elon acquired Twitter at a staggering $44 Billion deal.
“Power to the people! Blue for $8/month,” he tweeted, in reference to the platform’s famous blue checkmark that signals a verified and authentic account.
“We need to pay the bills somehow. To all complainers, please continue complaining, but it will cost $8.
“Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?” he went on.
These saw varied reactions come up from his millions of followers who took issue with his firm and final stand even before seeking views.
“I am truly disgusted that our democracy just sat around and watched while Elon took twitter and turned it into an authoritarian disaster. The fact that he used stolen resources from African countries to get the money to buy twitter shows he’s a bigot. We will be leaving twitter,” 14 Alls reacted.
Another concerned user threatened to leave the platform very soon arguing that, at this rate, Musk is almost bringing back Donald Trump; something he cannot put up with.
