Monday, November 7, 2022 –Several users on Twitter may end up losing their accounts over misuse. Elon Musk has warned.
Making the warning on Sunday November 6 evening, the new owner Mr Musk stated that accounts which have no clear ownership, impersonating others and do not have a parody disclaimer will definitely be banned permanently.
The new Twitter Inc. owner went ahead to clarify that Twitter used to warn such account owners before deleting them but, this time around, there will be no warnings.
“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended.
“Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning,” Musk posted.
The billionaire also announced that the new measures will see several lose their verification checkmark if they happen to change their names.
The new rule saw popular American comedian Ms Kathy Graffin become the first casualty for impersonating Mr. Elon Musk.
