Thursday, January 13, 2023 –The late veteran TV broadcaster Catherine Kasavuli will be buried on Saturday in Zululu, Vihiga County.
Friends, colleagues and relatives were on Friday January 12 overwhelmed by grief during her requiem mass held at Friends’ International Centre on Ngong Road, Nairobi.
According to the Standard, every speaker who took to the podium to mourn her, paid glowing tribute describing her as having an infectious smile that made everyone remain glued to the screens anytime she was on duty.
Journalists who were mentored by Kasavuli led by Linus Kaikai (Citizen TV), Christine Nguku (Media Council of Kenya) and Jimmy Gathu (Standard Group) all said, besides helping them grow to who they are today, she took to television with ‘unprecedented flair’.
“When she reported, she said, I am back home after many years. Am ready to do good, and the wonderful Kasavuli did good, whenever she went on air, she would deliver the bulletin very well and trained many people in the time she was in KBC,” said Mr Samuel Maina from KBC mourned.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Former Attorney General Amos Wako, Hamisi MP Charles Gimose and George Aladwa (Makadara) were also present.
Kasavuli, 60, died on December 29 after battling Cervical Cancer.
