Tuesday, January 24, 2023 –Musician Suzanna Owiyo has exposed Kisumu County Government over her unpaid dues.
The Veteran musician from Kisumu, on Monday January 23, called out Governor Anyang Nyong’o for not compensating a group of artistes who showed up at the Africities Summit that took place in May last year.
She explained that she was among those who were officially invited to entertain guests but until now they have not been paid for their services.
“I am sharing this because I want to raise a concern in regards to the Africities summit that took place last year in Kisumu sometime in May.
“On behalf of other artists who performed during the summit, I have decided to speak out on this matter because I feel that somebody somewhere must take action,” Owiyo lamented.
In her Monday statement, the Kisumu 100 hitmaker disclosed that they have been kept waiting for long with no hopes of things improving anytime soon.
“I am appealing to the County Government of Kisumu and the national government in charge to just pay the artists who performed.
“We rendered our services and we should be paid what we are owed. We are not asking for too much,” Owiyo added.
Africities Summit is sort of a dialogue platform bringing together African ministers, mayors, leaders as well as elected officials among others parties in leadership.
