Wednesday, May 18, 2022 –Kenyan-born Striker Michel Olunga has won the Golden Boot of Qatar League following his fantastic performance on the pitch.
The 28-year old Olunga completed the season with a whopping 24 goals for his club Duhail which enabled him to bag the Muftah Award, while striker Ayew from Ghana came second with 15.
Background check on Ayew shows that he once played for Swansea as well as West Ham United before joining the Qatar-based club.
The most valuable player of the year position, however, was taken by Al Sadd’s Akram Afif who managed to score 14 goals and provided 17 assists earning him the most valuable player title.
Further, Affif’s teammate Baghdad Bounedjah, according to the organisers, came in as third-best scorer with a total of 13 goals.
Overall, Olunga’s Al Duhail finished second with Al Saad clinching the Qatar Stars League title with 62 points in the competitive 12-team league season.
This is the second biggest award for the 28-year old Kenyan striker who in 2021 also won the most upcoming top scorer while still playing for the Japanese side, Kashiwa Reysol.
