Wednesday, June 22, 2022 –Mike Mbuvi Sonko has a reason to smile after the Supreme Court Register Letizia Wachira today evening confirmed that his appeal challenging his impeachment was filed within the required timelines.

Today Wednesday June 22, Mr. Wachira confirmed that Sonko’s appeal was filed in the court systems on May 4 and  the hard copy were then presented to his office on May 20, 2022 implying that Sonko’s lawyers were withinthe  required time-frames.

The protest on the filing timelines was first made by lawyer Duncan Okatch who claimed that there were spots of  alterations in the judiciary e-filing systems to accommodate Sonko’s papers when time had elapsed.

“The import of this letter is to inform you that not only did the petitioner (Sonko) fail to comply with the Supreme Court Rules with regards to the Appeals timelines, but has also interfered with the Judiciary E-filing system,” Okatch told the court.

This matter has also seen the Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu together with city’s county assembly file an application to force dismissal of the former governor’s application, on same grounds.
