Boulaye Dia had an open chance that he squandered early. But when it looked like the match was headed for a draw at halftime, Senegal got a penalty which Ismaila Sarr easily netted to make it 1-0 heading to the half time.
Ecuador then had an equalizer goal in the second half at around the seventieth minute from a corner kick and which was scored by Moises Caicedo.
