Tuesday, November 22, 2022 –A section of Rift Valley lawmakers allied to United Democratic Alliance UDA Party now want CS Moses Kuria out.
Addressing on Tuesday November 22 morning, the politicians led by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei took issue with the new Trade and Indistralisation Cabinet Secretary CS for allowing maize imports into the country at the expense of local farmers.
They warned that should this exercise not be halted immediately, they are going to force the CS out of office so that a new CS can be appointed.
“As MPs from maize-producing regions, we seek to know the reason as to why ships are already docking in Mombasa Port without the laid out legal procedures,” Nandi Senator Cherargei said.
On his part, Pokot South MP David Pkosing threatened that a plan to collect enough signatures to make his(Kuria) removal a success is in the offing.
“He will be the first Cabinet Secretary to leave office. We will impeach him. We will collect signatures if he doesn’t change,” he said
It is not yet clear whether the maize which docked at the Port of Mombasa today Tuesday is part of the GMO threat or not.
