Thursday, May 25, 2023 –Government has called upon the Azimio la Umoja representatives back on the negotiations table after a second fallout.
In their press briefing held by the faction in Nairobi on Thursday May 25, Kenya Kwanza team led by Tharaka Member of Parliament MP George Muragura and Esther Ekenyuri, stated that they still have confidence that, with the goodwill from both sides, the talking will fully resume to its conclusion.
“We are confident that we shall overcome all roadblocks in the talks because we are committed to ensure we arrive at a fruitful conclusion,” Muragura said.
He also maintained that there was still enough time left for the talks to go on with a provision of extra time should some items need more time to complete.
His colleague, Nominated Senator Esther Okenyuri called on the Azimio team to prioritise the country’s interest and settle down for the discussions again.
She added that the demand to quit talks midway was misled.
“We don’t have to always keep the country on tenterhooks, the demand by Azimio was premature, Kenya Kwanza is ready and willing to proceed with the Bipartisan Talks,” stated Ms Okenyuri.
Early today on Tv show, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna blamed Kenya Kwanza members for the stalled talks. He attributed this to lack of preparedness and lack of one command instructions command center.
