Friday, December 2, 2022 –Mr. Ferdinand Waititu has today been appointed a member of the newly-constituted Nairobi River Commission NRC.
President William Ruto picked the former Kiambu governor to the position that will see the team fight to restore glory in the Nairobi waters.
Waititu will also be working with Ms Pamela Olet who the president appointed the Chairperson of the new commission.
Nairobi River preservation efforts gained momentum early last month when it was realized there was endemic pollution threatening to tear it apart.
“The Nairobi River is a national shame. The level of pollution in the river is unacceptable and the quality of life of those who live next to it lacks dignity,” DP Rigathi Gachagua noted in his last address.
The Commission will comprise public, government and non-governmental members of interest who will work all-round-the-clock to come up with viable recommendations that will see it saved from further degradation.
