Monday, May 16, 2022 –ODM Party leader Raila Odinga will be unveiling his running mate today Monday May 16 at the Kenyatta International Convention Center KICC.
Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance has only today being the deadline to present the name of their running mate as required by electoral laws.
The task of naming the running mate has been a thorn in the flesh of the coalitions almost threatening to tear them apart.
For instance, Raila Odinga is required to pick one candidate from the three names – Martha Karua, Peter Kenneth and Kalonzo Musyoka. Out of these names, he will be picking one of them and this may widen cracks in the alliance.
Already, Wiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is ready to walk away should Odinga pick someone else. He has announced that he will have to vie for the presidency independently should this happen.
IEBC set May 16 as the deadline for selection of running mate; a directive that saw the William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza coalition select MP Rigathi Gachagua yesterday Sunday May 15.
