Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party will field a candidate in Matungu Constituency mini-polls.
Though Musalia Mudavadi Party ANC owned the seat through the late Justus Murunga, their big brother ODM Party has reportedly made it clear that they will not look at the by-election from the fence.
Odinga has already indicated his desire to field someone credible in the race so as to square it out with both Ruto and ANC’s candidates.
Deputy President William Ruto will, definitely be fielding his preferred candidate like he has been doing in the rest of the mini-polls against the wishes of his boss Uhuru Kenyatta.
This Matungu Constituency race could be a sure precursor for the forthcoming 2022 contest in Western part of the country. This is according to local political analysts.
The presence of Odinga in the race, therefore, may leave Mr. Mudavadi much exposed since Odinga is not just any other politician to take lightly especially when t comes to his presence in Western Region politics.
It must be remembered that he managed to outdo Mudavadi in Kibra who had fielded Mr. Owalo. Dp Ruto with al the money also suffered in his(Odinga) hands.
Insiders from ODM Party have reported that they will not be holding any discussion or negotiations with any other party for the Matungu race since they see this as a great opportunity for them to show also display their mighty.
“We know we have democracy in Kenya, and we expect things to play out in Matungu just as it was done in Kibra after ODM lost Ken Okoth,” said Raila.
Vocal Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala recently begged Raila Odinga not to field a competitor but instead leave the seat to the Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress.
