Wednesday, November 9, 2022 –Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party has nominated Winnie Odinga to the prestigious East Africa Assembly EALA.
This news on her endorsement surfaced on Wednesday November 9 morning despite Winnie having, two weeks ago, downplayed the claims.
“ODM Selection Committee, presided by deputy party leader, Wycliffe Oparanya, met yesterday, Tuesday, November 8, and nominated the following to EALA.
“Suleiman Shahbal (Mombasa), Mohammed Diriye (Wajir) Winnie Odinga (Nairobi), Timothy Bosire (Nyamira), Beatrice Askul (Turkana) and Justus Kizito (Kakamega),” ODM Party announced.
Raila Odinga’s daughter had earlier refuted that there was such a plan of the party to offer her the plum position.
She further went ahead to clear that she has no intentions of taking up the position.
Winnie also told Spice FM that her plate was full with private businesses and offered to absorb key figures from the former Azimio la Umoja campaign secretariat.
Nonetheless, its now official that the Odinga’s last born daughter together with Mombasa businessman, Suleiman Shahbal will be serving Kenya at the EALA.
Political pundits have weighed in on the matter saying she is the most probable successor of her father Raila in the Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party.
