Wednesday, December 7, 2022 –We will not be seeking any permits to hold our public rallies and meetings. Raila Odinga’s troops tells Ruto’s government.
Addressing this issue on Citizen Tv last night, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang told off Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki who had asked Raila Odinga to provide the State with his schedule of activities for security reasons.
He also faulted the CS for directing Azimio la Umoja team on how to conduct themselves in their rallies.
“This is not a favour, it is our right guaranteed by the Constitution and the people of Kenya so the Interior CS should not brag that he has given us permission to demonstrate,” Lawyer Kajwang explained to Waihiga Mwaura of Citizen Tv.
On his part speaking elsewhere on K24 TV on Tuesday, December 6, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, stated that whether Government will allow it or not, their Azimio rallies will go on as planned.
“We will have the rallies whether the government likes it or not it is because it is provided in the law.
“You do not need a license to hold a rally so we are not giving the president our itinerary,” the senator remarked.
He asserted that anything that is found in the Constitution cannot be stopped with anybody even by the government itself.
The two were reacting to Interior Cabinet Secretary CS Kithure Kindiki’s orders that Azimio must provide their schedule of activities for appropriate security plans.
Ruto had advised the CS to seek the schedule clarifications from Odinga’s side.
