Friday, September 24, 2021 -Kenya’s fast rising betting firm OdiBets has pulled out its sh 127 million sponsorship to football federation FKF.
In a report filed by Homenews.co.ke on Friday September 24, it showed that the popular betting firm had signed the mouthwatering deal with FKF to help stabilize grassroots football before it pulled out drastically.
This was happening just days after the Nick Mwendwa-led-federation had announced how it had severed ways with OdiBets management over breach of contract.
But in a new twist of events, sources intimated to media that the betting firm, was first to question the level of accountability of the body hence forcing it to withdraw their multi-million sponsorship deal.
In fact, early reports indicated that the cash which Nick had already received from OdiBets was not well utilized; what triggered this counter-reaction from the sponsor.
“We are talking of millions of shillings we have handed to the federation as part of our partnership to promote football in the grassroots, but we are not seeing anything happening on the ground,” said a source.
Moreover, OdiBets had agreed to become the motivation partner for the national team Harambee Stars in a deal that would have seen it pay all allowances and bonuses to players and the entire management.
