Friday, November 4, 2022 –New Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has reinstated the expelled Nick Mwendwa’s National Executive Committee and its secretariat.
The announcement was made today Friday November 4 following a successful two days meeting that took place in Nairobi’s Kenya National Library Services.
“Met the Kenya Football Federation FKF National Executive Committee in the continuing consultations to return Kenyan football to normalcy.
“The government is committed to fulfilling the conditions set by Fifa so that the penalty is removed. Whereas we need our football to be restored, we do not turn a blind eye to integrity, the rule of law and good governance. In my meeting with the suspended NEC, I have been open with them about these issues,” Namwamba told the media.
He went ahead to direct the federation to make a quick official communication to FIFA on the new direction Kenya had taken.
“FKF will communicate to Fifa regarding the understanding between them and the government on conditions that we have set. They have been put down by FKF and will be conveyed to Fifa shortly,” added Namwamba.
It however emerged that, part of the agreement between the government and FKF is that Mr. Mwendwa remains inactive in sports matters until he is cleared by courts.
