Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama surprised locals after he decided to put Deputy President William Ruto on a loudspeaker during a public gathering.
Residents in Makueni County were then treated to a very rare moment where the DP could be captured live speaking on phone while on a loudspeaker.
It is reported that Mr. Muthama called the DP on Wednesday Sept 16th with an aim of assuring him of their collective and undying support for the top seat.
“Mwi aseo? (are you well),” the DP started off in an accent that one could confuse with a Kamba native.
And in response, the crowd could visibly show their excitement as they responded in unison ‘Twi aseo’.
All who were present then paid keen attention as he(Ruto) addressed them for over a minute and even promised to invite them at his Karen home in Nairobi for a one on one chat.
“I very sincerely appreciate the work you are doing over there, I talked to Muthama and asked that we expedite the process of bringing you over here for some tea,” Ruto stated.
He spoke this as the elated crowd chanted ‘Hustler slogans’ throughput his speech that seemed to touch their raw nerve.
It is now apparent that Mr. Muthama is working with DP Ruto ahead of 2022 campaigns and he might even vie on the same ticket with William Ruto’s party that is yet to be officially announced.
Muthama, before switching camps, was a die-hard supporter of ODM boss Mr. Raila Amollo Odinga and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka.
