Tuesday, December 6, 2022 –Government is in the process of tabling a Bill that seeks to empower the new office of the opposition leader.
A section of Kenya Kwanza-allied leaders have revealed inside details in the new arrangement that will give opposition leader Constitutional powers to participate fully in the running of oversight office.
Addressing members of the fourth estate on Monday December 5 afternoon after holding a daylong Parliamentary Group Meeting PGM, the government-allied lawmakers disclosed that the president had instructed them to support this course.
This is a development coming just days after Azimio la Umoja leaders – Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua faulted government for trying to sabotage their opposition force.
“Where did Kenya Kwanza get the idea that our planned meetings will be unruly?
“Ruto is slowly imposing a mafia state on Kenya. This reign by gangsters is scary and unnerving. It has never been seen in Kenya even during our past bad days.
“Competition can never be your adviser or your cheer leader,” Karua charged in their latest presser that was also attended by Raila and Kalonzo.
The Bill, if ready, will be among the first ones to be tabled in the Parliament when the MPs return from their break.
But even as Ruto caves in to Raila’s demands, he warned his Kenya Kwanza MPs against falling into the opposition’s trap.
