Friday, November 18, 2022 –Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has openly admitted that Genetically Modified Organisms GMO crops can lead to death.
Addressing traders on Thursday November 17 afternoon, the controversial Cabinet Secretary stated that GMO can also add to the long list of foods that kill and government has no option.
“We have so many things that can kill us in the country. Being in this country, you are a candidate for death,” he stated.
Kuria added that Kenyans are used to dying and there was nothing wrong with introducing GMOs into the country even if people will die from its chemical content.
“And because so many things compete for death, there is nothing wrong with adding GMOs to that list. That is why we have deliberately allowed GMO until we are satisfied that we have enough maize, the staple food,” Kuria stated further.
He went ahead to confirm that already William Ruto’s government had licensed the importation of the products into the country.
“It is our responsibility as the government. I know this will offend some people, but even if we lose some votes here and there, we shall see the kingdom of Heaven,” Kuria also said.
He was speaking this, hours after United States of America USA tech mogul Bill Gates assured Kenyans that consumption of GMOs is not as harmful as it is thought of.
“Every piece of bread I’ve ever eaten is from genetically modified wheat, every piece of corn I’ve eaten is G.M.O,” Bill Gates revealed.
This remark, however, did no go well with a section who faulted the mogul for coming into the country to do business with lives of Kenyans.
