Wednesday, October 26, 2022 –Unclaimed asset agency wants Raila Odinga to claim and collect billions left behind by his late son, Fidel Odinga.
The Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority UFAA yesterday petitioned the Odinga family to quickly claim the money saying it was overwhelmed by the unclaimed billions lying idle in the accounts.
In the notice addressed to Odinga, Head of Corporate Communications, Paul Muya, revealed that Raila had not made any claim 8 years since Fidel’s death.
“We are asking the families and beneficiaries to come forward for the unclaimed money, which is substantial,” Mr. Muya remarked.
By the time of his death, Fidel left behind colossal sums of money in at least eight bank accounts and two investment funds.
Muya divulged to the media that many prominent families around the country have huge monies still with the Asset Agency. He also named ex-cabinet Minister Njenga Karume, John Harun Mwau as well as the late writer, Ali Mazrui who was living in Kenya.
As of March 28, government was having a whopping sh 54.9 billion unclaimed money and which is in form of insurance policies, mobile wallets, bank accounts, pensions, legal reparations and SACCOS.
