An official from Gor Mahia has accused fellow officials of turning down Deputy President William Ruto’s cash donation.
Raising her angry voice on the woes that are currently facing the now cash trapped soccer club, Organizing Secretary Judith Anyango Nyangi claimed that the club failed to travel to Kigali last Wednesday for their preliminary CAF Champions League match against APR, due to lack of funds.
“I had secured an appointment and we were to go to the Deputy President to be assisted but Gor management kept telling me they were consulting. Is there any harm in getting assistance from the Deputy President? Even Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has assisted us before despite his political affiliation. Wacha sasa wapambane na hali yao,” Nyangi opened to a local blog.
Her sentiments points at political rivalry between ODM Party leader Raila Odinga who is the team’s Patron and Deputy President William Ruto who is pushing hard his presidency button for 2022.
Gor Mahia has since failed to leave to Kigali due to lack of sh 4 million which they needed to have to be able to travel. They are required to be there by weekend.
Gor Mahia has been taking a lead in the past Kenya Premier League matches and are so far the defending champions.
