Tuesday, December 20, 2022 –Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has fired warning shots at Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, for allegedly targeting members of the Kikuyu community in a city crackdown.
Gachagua who was addressing businessmen in Nyeri County yesterday Monday December 19 argued that whatever Sakaja was upto must be quickly stopped this early.
He cautioned the city governor against interfering with residents’ operations in Nairobi since this could backfire in 2027 when next elections will be held.
He reminded Sakaja that, in Nakuru, voters had to do away with Lee Kinyanjui for Susan Kihika due to the same problems.
“I have told the governor that I will sit down with him because we are the ones who elected him. I am the one who asked Central Kenya people in Nairobi to vote for him and they did it,” he stated.
He affirmed his commitment of advising Sakaja not to harm residents in the name of implementing new county government changes.
“Anything that he decides on that may affect your business in Nairobi. We must first talk and agree. There is no hurry. The issue of ejecting matatus from Nairobi will not happen,” he added.
He urged the governor to seek advice from his counterpart from Nakuru – Susan Kihika – who is now in good books with locals juts because of listening.
Sakaja wants PSV operations to be moved to the newly-built-Green Park Terminus.
