Friday, December 9, 2022 –Mr. Wafula Wakoli of Ford-Kenya has emerged winner in the highly-contested Bungoma senatorial race.
Provisional results from all the nine constituencies in Bungoma County showed on Friday, December 9, that Wakoli got 64,009 votes, ahead of Mwambu Mabonga(45,682) of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Third was Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) Party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi who garnered 22,296 votes.
The winner will now succeed Moses Wetang’ula who, on September 7, resigned from the senatorial position and successfully contested for the National Assembly Speaker seat, defeating former Speaker Kenneth Marende.
The governor Mr. Kenneth Lusaka is also a Ford Kenya man.
