Monday, February 6, 2023 –Interior Cabinet Secretary CS Kithure Kindiki has released an official statement on Raila Odinga’s ongoing rallies and protests.
Addressing at Harambee House on Monday February 6, Prof Kindiki warned that any disruptions of normal activities will soon be stopped.
The CS firmly said he had no business stopping anybody from addressing supporters anywhere; but equally promised to swing into action should lawlessness crop up.
“But my business is to hear from them, what they think we can do to make our country safe, period. As to their politics, they can go and do it elsewhere. Some of them are doing demonstrations, I have no business with that, I don’t care. But on one condition, they keep law and order,” he firmly stated.
He went ahead to warn Raila and his supporters that the day any one will break the law, is the same day they will feel the full wrath of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“The day they will try to break the law, breach the peace, incite public disorder, that is the day the full weight of the ministry of Interior will come on them. They can do rallies so long as they don’t disrupt businesses, don’t insult,” Kindiki stated.
He asserted the government’s focus on service delivery and not politics since time to shout at each other was over.
He added that soon those who are creating unnecessary tension around the country so that to destabilize the economy will be stopped by all means possible.
“Therefore, if any leader of whatever political formation is implicated in hurting our country for political or commercial reasons, I have made it clear in my consultations with them that we will be ruthless with them,” he said.
He earmarked cattle rustling in Northern Region as among the priorities his ministry will be dealing with conclusively.
So far, Kindiki has managed to deploy a staggering 9000 security personnel in all hotspot areas around the country so that faceoff with criminal elements.
