Thursday, May 5, 2022 –Trouble continued to build up in the courts following a fierce dirty exchange between two high court judges in Nairobi.
This is immediately after the Judicial Service Commission JSC, on Wednesday May 4, asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to form a tribunal to probe the conduct of Judge Said Chitembwe.
The Commission, through Chief Justice Martha Koome, wants the Head of Sate to constitute a commission that will investigate the embattled Chitembwe over gross misconduct in legal sector.
Chitembwe is being accused of, among other crimes, receiving bribes from complainants in order to bend cases in their favour.
“Accordingly, the Commission resolved to send the Petition to His Excellency the President for his further action in accordance with article 168(4) of the Constitution,” Koome said.
Last year, former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko was first to fix Chitembwe through secretly recorded clips showing the latter receive huge chunks of cash in bribes so that to compromise a land case.
And today, a WhatsApp conversation emerged between Justice Chitembwe and his colleague Justice Aggrey Muchelule in which the two are engaged in a heated exchange over setup claims.
In the conversation, Judge Muchelule is challenging Chitembwe to carry his own cross despite having initially assured him of protection through the JSC.
It is on record that both Muchelule and Chitembwe were last year arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCI over bribe-related crimes. Nonetheless, they would shortly be freed. See the screen-grabs-
