Former Tusker Project Fame TPF Star David Ogolla who called himself David Major is a son to one of the prominent wealthy Kenyan literature brains Dr. Ogolla.
Dr. Margaret Atieno Ogolla was the brain behind one of the most read set book in 1998 to 2001 that was part of education curriculum. The name of the book is ‘The River and the Source’ which debut novel sold copies in millions.
She however succumbed to cancer in the year 2011 before her six children decided to share all her wealth. David who got most of her savings went into living his life around the city. Sources claim he would fly out of the country regularly to meet his girlfriend. He also bought a car which he used to move around with new friends drinking in bars and clubs.
Those who know him well claim he had to switch friends and joined fellow loaded city youths until he started running broke when they abandoned him one after another citing his unending begging culture to fund his lifestyle. Former Estate friends, on the other hand, some did not want him back into their team for betraying them when he had money. A few however accepted him back.
His rented house ran into debts and the landlord kicked him out forcing ‘Davi’ to go to the streets with drugs. He is since washed out by drugs todate.
The Eve described the novelist(Major’s mom) as few outstanding writers on the Kenyan soil. For the better part of the 90s, the epic novel, The River and the Source, was the set book for those who sat their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in those years. Its author, Margaret Ogola, is still celebrated as a stellar author. She managed to gel African tradition with modernity in a way that is still relatable 25 years after the book was first published.
