Nairobi’s Sham doctor Mugo wa Wairimu has been slapped three years jail term by Milimani Law Court.
On Wednesday October 28th, the court directed that the quack medic should part with a whopping sh 1.4 million fine or be jailed for three years.
According to the charge sheet seen by the media, Mugo was facing charges which included operating unlicensed medical lab, unregistered pharmacy, unlicensed clinic, and operating without qualifications as required by law.
Citizen Tv reported that in count one, he was fined sh 20,000 or serve 2 years in jail while in count two he was fined sh 200,000 or serve a similar jail. Further in count three he was slapped with sh 50,000 fine or an alternative of 9 months in prison.
The publication further reported how in count four the quack doctor was fined sh 500,000 or a three years sentence while in count five he was fined sh 150,000 or a six months imprisonment. In count six Mugo was fined by the court sh 500,000 or three years sentence which sentences shall run concurrently.
Wairimu’s fraudulent medical activities were exposed through a 2015 TV expose which outlined his shocking fake lifestyle where he pretended to be a qualified doctor but ended up raping and stealing from unsuspecting clients mostly women.
The imposter who operated Prestige Health Care in Githurai Estate would use drugs to intoxicate himself and his helpless patients before manhandling some who visited his facility.
In one account, victim Cecillia Wangari narrated how the ‘medic’ wanted to operate on her only to end up tying her hands with handcuffs. She was raped in the process.
She further told the court how she was, at one point, forced to organize a fundraiser from well-wishers to be able to get home after a fake surgery procedure that never helped her.
