Monday, October 10, 2022 –The country remained in complete confussion the whole day Monday October 10 as to whether celebrate Utamaduni or Huduma Day.
Monday remained a great confusion for a larger section after it emerged that it was hard to establish which Holiday the country was celebrating.
For example, Mama Rachel Ruto took to her Twitter handle to wish citizens a great Huduma Day same to Mr. Musalia Mudavadi.
“Happy Huduma Day. What do we live for if not to make life less difficult for each other?” Rachel observed.
However, in his communication over the holiday, outgoing Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matinag’i stated that Kenyans will be marking Utamadauni Day on Monday October 10 which he described as a day to celebrate both culture and diversity.
“It is hereby notified that Monday, October 10, 2022, will be a public holiday (Utamaduni Day).
“All citizens are reminded to honour the day by recognizing and celebrating the rich cultural diversity of Kenya in a manner that promotes our unity, national cohesion, and economic progress,” read the Gazette Notice from Government.
Due to international standards, in 2019 the State re-arranged the celebrations to have Utamaduni Day fall on October 10 and erased Huduma Day what seems to still confuse many Kenyans including leaders.
