Wednesday, January 18, 2023 –Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has told off President William Ruto over ‘Chebukati integrity’ claims.
Owino has asked the head of State to stop praising Chebukati every day since this had turned into an irritating noise.
“Can the President and Chebukati stop making noise to Kenyans about the past election. It is water under the bridge. Mr President, it’s time to stop singing and start swinging. Work for the People of Kenya,” he wrote.
His reaction is coming barely a day after President William Ruto noted that the IEBC Chairperson had performed extra-ordinarily well while serving office.
“The promise of our Constitution is partly dependent on the integrity and vigilance of Commissions and independent offices. They are the auditors of the auditors; they watch over the watchmen.
“That is what integrity looks like when working for the people of Kenya; standing with the Constitution, braving pressure and resisting threats,” Ruto stated.
Ruto was speaking this on Tuesday January 17 afternoon during a meeting with Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices at the Statehouse, Nairobi.
