Sunday, May 15, 2022 –Kenya Kwanza coalition has unveiled Mp Rigathi Gachagua to be William Ruto’s running mate ahead of the August 9 elections.
The announcement made on Sunday May 15 by their flagbearer Dr. William Ruto had on Saturday delayed long after parties within the coalition failed to agree on who between Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki is fit.
And while making the much-awaited announcement, Ruto described his running mate as an excellent professional and a man with ability to deliver fantastic results threough serious mobilization skills.
On Saturday, there was witnessed a daylong standstill at the DP’s Karen residence that ran into the late night without signs of any ‘white smoke’.
It was not until around 1AM that UDA Party spokesman Hussein Mohamed came carrying his laptop to inform members of the press that the naming exercise will officially be taking place on Sunday May 15 by 11AM.
“The running mate issue was also extensively discussed. We are happy to announce that we have a decision as Kenya Kwanza. A decision has been reached and will be officially communicated to you on Sunday,” Hussein told the press at night on Saturday.
Deadline for naming running mates is tomorrow Monday May 16; a day that Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance will also be naming their running mate.
