Former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga has pointed out why Deputy President William Ruto is a pathological political liar.
Speaking at the Coast during his three days tour that kicked off in Taita Taveta, Mr. Odinga said the deputy president is not a man to take serious and he should be avoided by all Kenyans due to his style of doing politics.
The opposition leader further mentioned that by Ruto waking from the slumber now to start issuing small donations to bodaboda and small scale traders was an insult to Kenyans owing to the fact that he has been in government for seven years as a deputy president to Kenyatta who ought to have already sorted out all problems facing the hustler nation if at all he was serious with what he was preaching.
Odinga further argued that Mr, Ruto has been a powerful DP during which time he never visited the poor people to offer the donations he is now purporting to carry around in the name of generosity.
“Ruto has been in government for seven years, what has he been doing all along? He realizes is about to leave government he is now running all over with wheelbarrows and sewing machines,” Odinga said questioning Ruto’s philanthropic moves.
The ODM boss also accused Ruto of fermenting opposition against reforms through their Building Bridges Initiative BBI.
In his Diani public speech in Mombasa County, Mr. Odinga said DP Ruto was very wrong in opposing a document that was not yet out.
“This is where you see the hypocrisy in our politics. They took us through a heated campaign saying the proposed Constitution (2010) was 20 per cent defective,” said Raila.
“But we said although it was imperfect, it was better to implement it in order to understand its weaknesses,” he added.
Last week, the second in command led a spirited campaign in the Coast where he urged locals not to endorse the BBI report when it will finally be out. He said referendum was not a priority for Kenyans as per now.
Mr. Odinga and Dr. Ruto are the top rivals expected to face off each other in the forthcoming 2022 general elections.
