Tuesday, January 10, 2023 –A Kakmega court has today nullified the election of Lugari Member of County Assembly MCA Amutete Grey.
The United Democratic Party UDP elected member was found to have participated in irregularities that led to his questionable victory.
According to the Star, the court cited malpractices in the August 2022 general elections and the failure of the electoral body IEBC to adhere to laid down election rules.
His opponent in the elections, William Makhalanya had filed a petition challenging his victory and tabled evidence in that regard.
He argued through his court papers that the whole exercise was marred with questionable activities.
United Democratic Party UDP is under Cyrus Jirongo who is the party leader.
