Thursday, November 24, 2022 –Azimio la Umoja leadership led by Raila Odinga today stormed Parliament for the ongoing hearing exercise on the petition seeking to remove from office the Cherera four.
IEBC Vice Chairperson Cherera Juliana, Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyagaya were summoned to appear before the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee JLAC to respond to charges of misconduct during the just-ended general elections.
The four openly differed with the Wafula Chebukati presidential tallies and went apart to denounce the whole exercise that saw William Ruto finally declared the final winner.
Ms Cherera with her colleagues, adamantly refused to own up the results that were announced by Chebukati at the Bomas of Kenya.
And during today’s hearing process, Odinga was in the company of his former running mate Martha Karua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Also in their company was Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Communication Director Prof Makau Mutua.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna who was on Citizen Tv on the morning of Thursday November 24, stated that because of numbers, the William Ruto MPs could overwhelm Cherera alongside her colleagues.
He described this as a mission specifically started to accomplish a certain political end for the current administration.
“They are on a vendetta mission and armed with numbers to pass anything through, Cherera and other 3 commissioners cannot survive,” Sifuna noted.
The JLAC parliamentary committee is chaired by Tharaka Nithi member of parliament Murugara George Gitonga
