Tuesday, October 25, 2022 –Azimio la Umoja Members of Parliament have rejected at least 5 names nominated by President William Ruto for the the new Cabinet positions.
The lawmakers who make part of the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments reasoned that the victims are not fit to hold public office due to their past record bordering on both integrity and competence.
Aisha Jumwa (Public Service), Peninah Malonza (Tourism), Mithika Linturi (Agriculture), Zacharia Njeru (Lands) and Njunguna Ndung’u (Treasury) are affected in with this move.
On Mithika Linturi, MPs argue that he failed to explain how he will be turning around the struggling Agricultural sector and how he intended to fix food insecurity in the country.
He could also not sufficiently discuss how the Genetically Modified Organism GMO crops would be of benefit to the country including how safe this will be.
MPs also failed to be convinced by the nomination of former Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa who is facing murder charges in court. She also was cleared on fraud charges just a day to her vetting.
The same fate faced Penina Malonza who appeared clueless on how she intends to drive the Tourism docket to higher heights.
