Big blow to former Premier Raila Odinga after it emerged that a group of Kikuyu elders who paid him a visit at his rural Bondo home were ‘quack’ elders.
Reports have emerged claiming that the group which purported to represent the Kikuyu community in Bondo were actually not the Kikuyu Council of Elders.
Kung’u who is current Patron of the Council has clarified that none of those visitors was their member and should be treated with contempt they deserve saying it was a group of frauds.
Reacting for the first time during the requiem mass for both Peter Mbothi, and Christopher Kariuki who were killed during recent DP William Ruto’s tour in Muranga and which was characterized by clashes, Kung’u mentioned that it was becoming dangerous for the region to allow getting messed up with politicians who want to divide the community despite having been intact for many decades.
“The National Council of Elders never sent them,” Kung’u affirmed.
Raila was, unanimously, picked as the favourite presidential candidate in resolutions which were read and agreed upon in the meeting that comprised over 500 people from Mt. Kenya region.
“We the elders of the Luo and Kikuyu communities, coming together at the home of our patriarch Jaramogi Oginga Odinga have expressed our deep concerns for the problems facing our nation.”
“We deeply appreciate the initiative taken by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to unite our nation through the handshake under the BBI and we eagerly await the launch of the proposals very soon,” Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o read part of the resolutions.
It was agreed that a delegation from Luo Nyanza will also be paying a visit to Mt. Kenya as 2022 leadership politics continue to take shape.
Former presidential Candidate Peter Kenneth was also present in the meeting that was characterized by brotherly love.
